There are three ways to find businesses to add to your LikeList:

Browse

1. Click the triangle icon next to the "Find Trusted Businesses" box to display the business category drop-down menu.
2. Select a business category and then enter a location. Press Search.
3. Once the search results appear, you can Filter them by further narrowing down the category, and/or by selecting a specific location to browse in.
4. You can also Sort the search results by Most Liked, Distance or Alphabetical to control which results show up at the top of the search results.

Search

1. In the "Find Trusted Businesses" field, type the full or partial name of a business or a business category, such as "Restaurants".
2. In the "near" field, type the city and state or select from the drop-down menu.
3. Click the Search button, or hit Enter (Windows keyboards) or Return (Mac keyboards).

Ask for a recommendation

1. Click the Ask friends tab.
2. Type what you’re looking for ("restaurant" or "dentist," for example), and a location.
3. Click the AlikeList icon to select which AlikeList friends you want to ask.
   • If your friends aren’t on AlikeList yet, type in their email addresses or import them from your Google, Yahoo, AOL or MSN address book. Make sure to separate multiple email addresses with commas.
4. Include a message if you want, and then click Send.

To add a business you find through browsing or searching, or among a friend's Likes:

1. From any business listing, simply click Like.
2. Type any comments you want to add about the business.
3. Click OK.

To add a business that isn't listed

1. Search for the business first. If it is not listed, click Add it to AlikeList (under the map).
2. Provide the required information. If you’re the business owner, make sure to check "I am the owner of this business."
3. Click Next.
4. Confirm that the info you entered is correct and click OK.

1. Click on the Add friends tab, and then the purple Add friends bar.
2. If your friend is already on AlikeList, click the AlikeList icon.
   1. Enter your friend's name. When they show up in the results, click Add.
3. If you want to invite friends to the site for the first time, enter their email addresses, and make sure to separate multiple addresses by commas.
   1. You can also import friends’ email addresses from your Google, Yahoo, AOL or MSN address book by clicking the corresponding email icon.
4. Write a message in the space provided.
5. You can preview your invite by clicking Preview, or just click Send.

How to sign in using your Facebook account

1. Click the Sign in using Facebook button on the Home page.
2. In the pop-up, enter the email address you use to sign into Facebook, and your password and click Connect.
3. In the next pop-up, click Allow to be connected to Facebook. You will be asked to give your AlikeList ID (email address) once so a connection can be made between your AlikeList and Facebook profiles. Now you will be able to use all of the features of AlikeList using your Facebook ID and you can search for recommendations and invite friends from there!

How to connect to Facebook

1. Click the Facebook Connect button on your Home page.
2. In the pop-up, enter the email address that you use to sign into Facebook, and your password and click Connect.
3. In the next pop-up, click Allow to be connected to Facebook. Now, AlikeList will appear in Facebook and you can search for recommendations and invite friends from there!

How to make recommendations show up in Facebook

1. On your Home Page, in the lower right corner you'll click on the Share your AlikeList recommendations on Facebook button.
2. A window from Facebook will appear asking your permission to "Allow Constant Authorization." Follow their steps and your recommendations will show up in Facebook!

Do I need to use the same email account I use for Facebook in order to join AlikeList?

1. You can use any email account or address you like. Just remember which is which!

How to add or edit comments about a business

You may only add or edit comments for businesses you have added to your LikeList or to your TryList.

1. Click the Edit comment icon under any business in your LikeList or TryList.
2. Type some notes about the business that your friends would find helpful.
3. Click the OK button. Or if you change your mind, click Cancel.

How to filter your search results

Use the Filter by tool under the search bar. Here you can filter your results by business category and location.

How to sort your search results

You can reorder the results in a few ways. Select Most Liked, Distance or Alphabetical to control which results show up at the top of the search results.

1. Click My account at the top of the page.
2. The Profile tab and Basic info tab display your information. Edit your information and click Save.
3. The Password tab allows you to create a new password. Confirmation that you changed your password will be sent to your email.
4. Click Privacy settings to control who can see your AlikeList profile and comments.
   1. Here, you can also control whether your AlikeList activities (like adding to your LikeList or changing your profile information) will be published on your Facebook wall.
